Isn't it fun?! I knew that I wanted to incorporate an apple but in a different way. What better way to use an apple than to mimic one of the most famous apples there are. I also used this same idea on my sentiment with the 'i' in iThank You. Let me show you how I made the card.
I started by cutting all of my apple pieces using my new Cricut Explore. I got this machine for Christmas and am just finally using it! Not only is the machine new but they also have a new app for my favorite Apple product, the iPad. It's called Cricut Design Space and it is wonderful! I know that I'll be sharing many more projects using these tools. I used this app to take a 'bite' out of the apple. Once the apples were cut I made them into stickers using my Xyron Sticker Maker and then inked the apple, stem, and leaf. These were super easy to ink by leaving the pieces on the sticker paper while I inked them. I thought the text paper was a fun way to incorporate a little bit of a fun feel to the card. You could also use solid colored paper, stickers, or cut your own apples out of paper.
Next, I stamped a brush background. I thought this looked a little like a chalkboard eraser mark which is why I chose it. You could also use a paint brush and paint to create the same effect. For the sentiment I used a Thank You stamp and then a separate lowercase i stamp to finish it off. Now I need to piece together the apples. I have a super easy way to do this! First, put the main part of the apple on your card. Then, lay one of the negative pieces from when you cut the apples over this piece. Finally place the leaf and stem into their spaces and remove the negative piece. Now your apple is ready to go!
Here is a close up of the sentiment and apple.
I made the large version of this card for my boys' homeroom teachers and these cute smaller ones for all of their extra teachers (gym, music, computer, etc).
I hope you enjoy these cards as much as I enjoyed making them. Thanks for stopping!
